ð NAKHON-KHIRI HISTORICAL PARK ð
ðPhra Nakhon Khiri is a History park in Petchaburi, Thailand on a hill overlooking the city. The name Phra Nakhon Khiri means “ holy city hill ” but locals know it better as Khao Wang , meaning “ hill with palace ” Khao Wang is an important tourist attraction of Phetchaburi. Regarded as a symbol of the province Because, when we go to travel to Phetchaburi the thing that will be seen from afar is Khao Wang, which has pagodas and white building. This place is considered to be an ancient archeological site that has been in Phetchaburi province for a long time.
Khao Wang is located on the top of the mountain up to 92 meters high. Formerly known as Khao Khiri but King rama 4 wanted to build a palace on this hill top. Therefore gave the duty for Chao Phraya Phet-Nisai the Permanent secretary or Phetchaburi was the leader of the construction work until completion in 1860 and King rama 4 has given a new name for this palace as Phra NakhonKhiri.

Interesting thing on Khao Wang
ðĨ The park consist of three building groups on the three peaks of the 95 m. hill. On the western peak is the palace with adjoining structure. On the middle or central peak is the big Chedi named Phra That Chom Phet. The eastern peak house the Wat Phra Kaeo, the royal temple, built in similar fashion to the Wat Phra Kaeo in Bangkok. The whole complex was built as a summer palace by king Mongkut with construction finished in 1860.

The site was registered as a historical park on 27 August 1979 with two of the palace building now housing a branch of the Thai National Museum.

ð The details that you should know
Admission cost: Thai people pay 20 Baht / person. The tourists can visit Khao Wang by walking or using the electric tram, 40 baht for adult and 15 Baht for children.
Every years there will be a Phra Nakhon Khiri celebration. There are many performances that mean of Art and Culture. At night, There are spectacular fireworks. The visitors can get a bitter taste of the fireworks. Which will be held every first Friday of February.
